Election Violation Complaints

How to report a suspected violation of Georgia election law or State Election Board rules.

If you believe a violation of the Georgia Election Code or the rules of the Georgia State Election Board has occurred, you may submit a complaint to the Georgia State Election Board by completing the online complaint form located at the bottom of this page.

Before submitting a complaint, please review the information below to ensure that the matter falls within the Board’s jurisdiction and to familiarize yourself with the complaint process.

What Happens After You Submit a Complaint

Upon receipt of your complaint, Board staff will conduct an initial review to determine whether the allegations fall within the Board’s statutory jurisdiction and whether sufficient information has been provided to evaluate the matter. During this review, the Board may:

  • Request additional information or supporting documentation, if necessary;
  • Refer the matter to the appropriate County Board of Elections and Registration or another governmental agency if the issue is more appropriately addressed at the local level or by another authority; or
  • Refer the complaint for further review or investigation if warranted under applicable Georgia law and State Election Board Rules.

Submission of a complaint does not constitute a finding that a violation has occurred, nor does it automatically result in an investigation or enforcement action.
